Instilling Helpfulness

Welcome to the interactive and follow-up best practices for the Instilling Helpfulness chapter. Here, you can access the reflective Journal Questions and the Job Chart Templates.

Questions for Journaling

  • If you haven’t yet integrated some sort of job/chore plan into your parenting structure, what is holding you back from Instilling Helpfulness in your children?

  • When thinking about your specific daily responsibilities, what are your biggest stressors and which of these tasks do you envision being able to break down and modify for child participation?

  • What are your children’s interests? How can you integrate these interests into your household tasks? (i.e.: activity/movement - “laundry race”, musical mnemonic device songs and rhythms: “knife, fork, spoon”, etc.)

  • Based on what we have discussed in this chapter, how do you think Instilling Helpfulness can support your parenting structure?
